The Mock Dock

The government of the Philippines has their panties in a knot over Teri Hatcher’s character on Desperate Housewives making a “racial slur” against their nation.  Here’s what she said, “Can I check those diplomas because I want to make sure that they’re not from some med school in the Philippines.”

That’s it.  That’s the racial slur.  The show has actually apologized, which in itself is ridiculous, but that’s not good enough.  The Philippine GOVERNMENT, who clearly has nothing better to do than watch Desperate Housewives, wants to lodge a formal protest against the US. 

I was under the impression that governments don’t base foreign policy on tv shows, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.  Someone pass the Phillippines a hankie.
