Girls’ Night

I am really really tired of how Ryan Seacrest says, THIS is aMAREican Idol.

Tonight is girl night, which I’m really excited about because it means I get to be extra catty.   If you don’t want to participate, don’t continue to the next page.  But if you want to participate, which you should, then make the jump!

Let’s get right to it, shall we?

Kristy Lee Cook - Rescue Me.  I am highly annoyed by her perfection.  Her perfect hair and her perfect face, and her perfect body, and just everything about her horse-training, kick-boxing perfect self.  Happily, I thought her performance was really really really really average.  I don’t want her to last, because if I have to see her a lot, my self-esteem will suffer.  Couldn’t she at least have been a beyotch about getting so much criticism? Sheesh.

Plus Size Joanna Borgella - Say A Little Prayer.  Personally, I think Rupert Everett did a better job of this song in My Best Friend’s Wedding.  So that should tell you something.  She seems like a sweet girl, but again, totally average performance.

Alaina Whitaker - Love You More Today Than Yesterday.  She’s a cutie patootie.  And I thought she did a nice job.  I’m not in love yet, but I have high hopes for her.  She’d need help from hair and make-up before I would develop a full-blown Kat McPhee-like girl crush on her.  Which, because she’s 16, would be creepy anyway.

Amanda Overmyer - Can’t Tell You the Name Of This Song Because American Idol Doesn’t Bother To Tell Them To Us.  She’s a badass.  I too loved her trousers, most especially because I love the word trousers.  And I like that she’s not a finger waggler.  I can’t believe she’s a nurse, because if she were MY nurse, I would be scared to ask her for tylenol, let alone have her adjust my oxygen level or something important like that.  Great singer though.

Amy Davis - Where The Boys Are.  Holy crap this was terrible.   I guess everyone from Indiana can’t be good.  This sounded like that horrible sound that cats make when they fight in the middle of the night.

Brooke White - So Happy Together.  She is 24, yet she looks 40.  I think it’s because she’s so freaking pure.  She did pretty good I guess.  Absolutely no one is standing out to me so far.  And they’d better start, because otherwise I’ll be giving up on this season early.  I have better things to mock about.

Who am I kidding?  Why do you guys even let me say that kind of stuff?

Alexandrea Lushington - Don’t Know The Name Of This Song Either But It’s About Stuff Going Up and Down.  She was awesome.  I totally loved her, and had no idea she even existed from watching Hollywood week.  Never mind what I said before - she stood out for me.  Especially since her first name has 5 syllables.  That’s NUTS.

Kady Malloy - Groovy Kind of Love.  First of all, her Britney impression is Freaky with a capital F.  Unbelievable.  I thought the song started off totally fantastically and just went downhill from there, until it turned into a steaming pile of poo.

Asia’h Epperson - Piece of My Heart.  First of all, why is her first name spelled with a hyphen.  That is utterly unnecessary and I would like her to change it at once.  She’s got such a cute little personality and happily, the vocals to match.  I loved this.

Ramiele Malubay - Some Song I Recognize But Don’t Know The Name Of.  Wow - they’re really saving the good ones for the last hour, aren’t they?  I thought she was Kick. Ass.  And she’s nice.  Ryan can stop talking about shoes anytime, now.

Syesha Mercado - Tobacco Road.  I. Am. In. Love. With. Her.  She’s completely gorgeous, first of all.  And even though this was the most bizarre song choice ever, she is still a badass singer.  LOVE.  She is officially my favorite girl on the show.

Carly Smithson - Shadow Of Your Smile.  Wow - she’s a good singer.  But so unfortunate looking.  Like the byproduct of Cher and Rumer Willis.  They just showed her dad in the audience, and I’m pretty sure he’s Mr. Slugworth from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

So, I like a few of the girls.  Not totally blown away by the season in general so far.  Your thoughts?

With only one TV in our apartment, my hubby and I played rock-paper-scissors and he won. American Gangster is a good movie by the way.

Sorry I missed it. I went to Idol.com and looked at the pictures from last night and read your comments. So from what I see, there is a Carrie Underwood, a Mandesa, a few other clones, and then a couple that seem likeable and good. We’ll see.

By the way, I just read on MSNBC that Paula hates her video. She actually is EMBARRASSED by it. The article said that if her buddy Randy wasn’t in it, she would be more vocal about hating it, but doesn’t want to hurt his feelings. She also said that she now understands more how hard the music business is now-adays, and plans to be nicer and easier on the Idolers. Is that possible? Anywhoo, seems like its more booze and sleeping pills for our girl.
