Ok - so even though Holmes already did a Holmes-style recap, I feel a responsibility to the 3 readers we have who might actually have an interest in an honest-to-goodness performance analysis. So here goes.
Amanda Overmyer - Back in the USSR: I am officially over her (again). She scored a couple points with me last week, but she is a one-trick pony whose days are numbered. I am tired of her raspy-ness, and I’m tired of her skunk hair.
Kristy McPerfect - You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away: HORRIBLE. Although I will admit being somewhat impressed that she could hit the low notes. It’s time for her to go home now. And ideally take Amanda with her.
Precious Archuleta - Long and Winding Road: AWESOME. Preciousness has clawed his way back to being fabulous again. And his wheezy little voice makes me just want to pat him on the head and feed him an animal cracker. LOVE.
Aussie Boy - Day in the Life: I liked this ok and I liked how into into it he was - but there was really no possible way he could shorten up this masterpiece of a song into just over a minute. Not Possible. But given that he DID, it was ok.
Brooke - Here Comes the Sun: Hate. I hated every moment of this. She’s cute and all, but her dress looked like it had been through a paper shredder, and she wasn’t hitting the notes well and she needs to just hide behind an instrument from this point forward because she’s like the most awkward person ever when left to simply move around in any way she pleases. Yuck
David Cook - Day Tripper: I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. Between last week and this week, he has climbed to my top 3. LOVE LOVE LOVE. He might be a teeny bit smug, but part of that is just his sideways smile. And he might still have horrible hair, but the dude can ROCK IT OUT. LOVE. His voice is amazing.
Carly - Blackbird: I like Sarah MacLachlan’s cover soooooo much better - but this was nice. Not my favorite, but nice. She has really pretty eyes. Which makes up for her smile which frankly makes her slightly resemble Miss Piggy.
Dreads - Michelle: Meh. My husband liked this, but I’m pretty sure it’s because he was singing along and therefore could only really hear himself and not Dreads. Right now my husband is thinking, DAMN I am a good singer, so he doesn’t realize that this was just meh.
Syesha - Yesterday: LOVE this song. And she has such a pretty voice. I really liked this except for one horrible string of notes in the middle. Still - it was mostly really really nice. She looks like the black version of Cameron Diaz with her hair like that.
Jacuzzi - She’s Just a Girl: I can’t get over how much I love his little chicklet teeth. The first part of this when it was slow was pretty much godawful to me, but once he picked up the pace I loved it. And he’s such a happy little guy. I dig him.
Ramiele - Whatever that mess of a song was: Yikes. Perhaps Danny Noriega can give her a ride to the airport when she’s voted off.
