David Archuleta - And So It Goes: Did Paula say she wanted him to “exploit the tenor” in his voice? Or did she say “timber” or “tambor” or what? Regardless, those were mighty big words to come out of Paula, and I would officially like to alert Ashley Judd that Paula is trying to outword her. Anyway. I am so so so tired of him keeping his eyes closed when he sings. I mean, I know he’s afraid of the beatings from his dad, so it’s sort of a natural flinching response that he can’t control, but still. Otherwise, I thought this was pretty awesome.
Syesha - If I Ain’t Got You: This was really good. It was like Alicia Keys singing it, only without the gun pendant around her neck.
David Cook - First Time Ever I Saw Your Face: Wow. I generally don’t look at David Cook and think, “Huh - I would love to hear him sing some Roberta Flack”, but holy crap I totally loved it. And I loved his tearful mom standing up all by herself in the audience. I eat s*&t like that RIGHT UP. LOVE LOVE LOVE David Cook.
David Archuleta - With You: This song made me intensely uncomfortable from the word “boo.” Soooo inappropriate for him. Maybe when his voice finally changes he can pull this off.
Syesha - Fever: Sooo vampy. She’s really quite awesome. I think the judges were jerks to her tonight.
David Cook - Switchfoot: Yikes. I think this could have been my least favorite performance of his ever. Boo.
David Archuleta - Longer: Booooorrrrrinnnnng.
Syesha - (I forget the song title): Meh.
David Cook - I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing: God I hate this song. It’s so ridiculous. It kind of made me fall out of love with him a little. I know it’s not his fault, because he didn’t choose it, but ICK.
I have absolutely no preference on whether or Archuleta or Syesha go tomorrow. I couldn’t care any less. As long as the Cook wins it - it makes no difference who loses first.
