First of all, can I just tell you how great my husband is?  They just introduced the judges, and when they showed Simon with his open shirt and his smug face, my husband said, “Simon needs to stop parting his hair in the middle.  His hair looks like an ass.”

I love him so much.

Anyway.

David Cook - I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For:  Nice!  I don’t know that it was like the most unbelievable performance ever but I love him so much it doesn’t matter.

Archuleta - Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me:  Wow.  This was flat awesome.  I have to say Archuleta probably won the first round.  Even though he kind of looked like he needed to take a dump the whole time.

David Cook - Dream Big:  I didn’t like this song.  I mean - I liked him singing it, but I just didn’t like the song.  Thanks a lot Andrew Lloyd Weber.

Archuleta - In This Moment:  Never heard this song.  I thought it was all very dreary and whiny and melodramatic.  That said, he sang it well.  I call this round a tie.  I want to seriously punch him in the face when he looks all overwhelmed by the judges’ love for him.  HATE.

David Cook - The World I Know:  I totally love this song anyway, but I super super loved loved loved loved how he did it.  I totally want to buy this single right now.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Archuleta - Imagine:  Yeah - he does a nice version of this song.  I won’t deny it.  BUT STILL.  I won’t buy his stuff.  I just won’t.  Take that, American Idol.

There are probably waaaay more teeny bopper kids out there who will spend all night voting for David Archuleta because they want to go to prom with him, than there are cool people who don’t fall for puppy dog eyes who can’t be bothered to pick up a phone.  Which means Archuleta will win.

I just have to accept it, I guess.  I’ll count on you all to talk me down from the ledge.
