When The Internet Is Down, Life Sucks

See this lady?  She is clearly having computer problems.  This is how I looked this morning when I found that the internet, email, and all internet-and-email-related activities were inaccessible to me due to some fiber optic cable being severed or something like that.  Wait.  I should clarify.  I was not wearing a suit or heels.  Nor did I grab at my hair.  So I guess I really didn’t look all that much like this lady after all.  Except that I was REALLY FRUSTRATED, which she appears to be.  Although, since she’s a perfect stranger to me, I suppose this could be her joyous YAY face.  You really can’t be sure about these things.

Anyway, about an hour ago I realized I had an air card with which I could get online.  Cue the angels-singing-on-high music.

But this temporary lack of access to the outside world made me stop and think how pathetically reliant I am on the internet to do most anything.  I mean, I literally felt like I was incapable of basic survival without it.  Which got me to thinking about how much it would suck to be Amish, because I just finished a Jodi Picoult novel about Amish people and their lack of any electricity whatsoever…and because I personalize pretty much everything, I actually momentarily believed that I, without internet access, was able to empathize with the Amish.

But that was all before I got on line.  Now I’m back to taking everything for granted again.
