So if you go here, and you have really good quicktime capabilities, you can watch the trailer for Ashley Judd’s new movie, Helen, in which she plays a woman who seemingly has everything a woman could hope for, yet she’s inexplicably horribly depressed. Does this sound familiar to you? It should, because it’s basically a snyopsis of Ashley Judd’s real life. You remember that little 47 day long stint she did in rehab for depression, right? Yyyyyyyyyyyeah.
Anyway, here’s my confession. I watched the preview, and I think she might actually be, dare I say, good in it. And, it’s totally the kind of movie I would want to see if I’m in the mood for a really good girly cry. Plus, Goran Visinijc is in it, and he’s pretty hot, so there’s also that.
Now - don’t get me wrong, there were parts that I thought seemed painfully overacted, but it’s JUST the kind of movie that sends shivers down the collective spines of the entire voting Hollywood Foreign Press and Screen Actors Guild and whoever else votes to enlarge the already oversized egos of movie stars. Mark my words people, she’s going to be mentioned at awards time. It pains me to say it, but I think it’s probably true. Add to this the fact that Hollywood loves a good Actor in Africa story, and she’s a shoe-in.
But no worries - there’ll be plenty of other things about her between now and then that I can mock. Just think of all the interviews she’ll do if she’s nominated for something. If Ashley Judd speaks, you KNOW there’s mockery to be made. You can count on me.

Oh please. So where’s Morgan Freeman/Samuel Jackson?
Ahhh Violet - my new best friend. Thank you. It’s very upsetting to me to think she might be pulling off an oscar-type performance, so your comment has helped brighten my day.
p.s. Morgan Freeman probably has a cameo.

That’s the youtube trailer.
I will be seeing this as, all mockery aside, clinical depression is a very prelevant issue in my family… unfortunately.
Oh, and Mostly Martha was ****ing great.
