Fun With Cornstarch

I am SO going to try this. I mean, not the walking part, because I couldn’t afford that much cornstarch - but the bowl thing? With a toddler? How fun would this be?

Sorry if this is like the oldest news ever but I just stumbled upon it and am completely awestruck by stuff like this.

That looks SO FUN and weird and a bit disgusting at the same time!

I wonder though how many starving people could be fed with corn used in this tub….
…which makes me think of this story when my hubbie was a very small kid and his mom wanted to make him eat his veggies and he refused, she one day said “think of all the little hungry children in Africa!” and he told her to pack it and send it to them….

I am a teacher, and when I took a class about teaching science in college, we had a “fun day” at the end of the semester where we played with this stuff. It is the weirdest and ceoolest feeling all at the same time. I definitely recommend playing with it if you can.

I learned about this in college, too, working in the developmental preschool. I think they called it “Oobleck.” I make it for my daughter now, she loves it! Word of warning, though… don’t try to put a lid on it to save it for later. It ferments or something, even in the fridge, I came home from work and thought a mouse died somewhere. Just leave it open to air to dry out and add water again the next day! Moms and dads, have fun with your kids tonight!
