I have monovision, which means one eye can see far away and the other eye can see close up. The doctor told me I would be the envy of all my friends around age 50, when they need bifocals and I won't need anything at all! So WHY do I have a restriction on my driver's license? GRRRR!

Being the only one in the family who doesn't wear glasses I've heard a lot of theories... but from what I see (no pun intended) nobody in my family were ever able to go even a day without glasses / lenses... whatever they have (and if it started with childhood or with age) it all just goes downhill with the passing of time.

I have an answer for that because I asked my eye dr. the same question. He said that while SOME people do get to that 'perfect' vision stage, most people require progressive lenses (one for up close and one for far away) until their vision just switches around and they go from wearing glasses for near sightedness to being far-sighted, thus the need for the little tiny librarian glasses used for reading!
