Right on, sbarros. Growing your own and buying from local folk is the way to go. Just bought three mouth-wateringly gorgeous tomatoes from the sweet old couple down the road who have a little veggie stand at their house. The big chain grocery stores are selling tomatoes for $2.49/lb. They're mealy, flavorless, and are about the size of a tennis ball. The folks down the road have juicy, delicious tomatoes the size of softballs for $1/lb.

First it was spinach, then tomatoes, pretty soon I won't be able to eat a salad at all. Actually, in all seriousness, this should encourage everybody to buy from their local farmers.
