This is one of my biggest fears. I very very very rarely get in a natural body of water for fear that fish will nibble on me toes. Yes, it’s completely irrational. But still a very real fear. You’d be hard pressed to find a picture of me in anything but chlorinated water, the way God intended.

How can you feel bad for the fish? They normally eat rotting guts from other fish, worms, garbage and anything else dead and decaying. This is like fresh food for them. Hey Nemo, dinner time. Get it while it lasts.
And when the fish get big you can have a fish fry.

Gross Out Warning!

When I read about the spa owner’s plans for a full-body fish treatment, all I could think of was that weird little “toothpick” fish in the Amazon River that likes to swim up through the urethra and take up residence in the bladder, where it anchors itself with its sharp little spines and generally requires surgical removal. I think I could stand to let the little doctor fish nibble on my feet - maybe for about a minute - but NO WAY could I get into a tub with them! I’d be too worried about one of ‘em making an unwanted house call somewhere.

And, Pris, I’m with you. I sort of feel sorry for the fish dining on crusty foot skin. Bleh.

Apparently, ya’ll haven’t been watching “I survived a Japanese game show.” The second week (I think) the winning team’s prize was a spa day, including doctor fish.

I actually feel sorry for the fish. Stinky sweaty crusty feet chunks for food! EW!!!
