Not to stop the very well-deserved mocking, but I think those are bloomers, not underwear. My Gram was a hefty lady, and wore them to stop thigh-chafe. They should come down to just above knee level. The pretty, dainty, oh-so-feminine ruffle gives it away.

Although stopping chafe is really the least of her worries, apparently… ewwww.
