Redlasso, the service which allows blogs like ours to show you video clips of stuff from TV when we can’t find it on youtube, is suspending services because two of the major networks (whose identities I won’t mention except to say that NBC and Fox are a bunch of crybabies) have sued them over copyright infringement. This means that pretty soon, all of the stuff we’ve ever clipped here through redlasso won’t work anymore. This includes our appearance on 20/20 (which you should watch if you haven’t yet).
I cannot adequately express to you the amount that this sucks.

The greed of the big companies is just unbelievable anymore. I was watching the other day and they actually interupted a commercial to show a little bit of a show.
Definitely sucky! B@stards.
It may be my age, or possibly the people I know, but it seems to me that fewer and fewer people are watching television anymore. Most women I know watch The Food Network and shows like Clean House and Trading Spaces.
Getting cable really opened my eyes to the HypeMachine. When a fictional story about pirates is going to premiere as a movie, and everything from the History Network to Nickelodeon suddenly has shows about pirates, it kind of brings home how manipulated the “trends” (and the public) really are.
Being able to pick and choose your own clips breaks their power of manipulation — yeah, it’s about money, ultimately, but not so much the violation of copyright as much as the interference with the HypeMachine, I think.
I didn’t finish my thought in the first paragraph: “Most women I know watch The Food Network and shows like Clean House and Trading Spaces. They don’t watch series television or reality tv, and if they want to see a movie, they rent it via Netflix. Fictional (series) television hasn’t been their first choice for a long time.”
I can spend weeks without turning my TV on…. and with digital TV when I’m out of a good book to read or other stuff do to I just do a search of what’ll be on and set it to tape… than whenever I feel like watching what I taped I just put it on and skip all the commercials. I’ve always HATED commercials so I’m real glad digital TV came along… (even though ads are always sneaked into the shows & films anyway)
Yeah, TiVo!
But back to the topic here, it is really a shame that the big corporate news media continue to control what we see (or don’t see) every day. I myself do not watch those two stations mentioned.
I feel really bad about this because this is such a fun and funny website. I hope you can continue to maintain it without the videos.
Do not adjust your set. We control it. You will watch what we want you to watch when we want you to watch it. You may not tell anyone about what you saw without our express written consent. Any infringment on our copyrighted material will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We will run the world.

Twilight Zone. The Matrix. Conspiracy theorists. They had it right after all, and we thought they were a bunch of hokies.
