Let’s Just Imagine For A Moment

A new song by Ludacris has been leaked, and it’s like, totally offensive on so many levels.  And you know what I thought when I read it?  What a total and complete freakout people would have if someone white ever uttered anything even remotely similar to this drivel.  Let’s imagine, if you will, someone like Toby Keith writing lyrics saying that Obama is is mentally handicapped or that he is a b*&tard who’s irrelevant or that he doesn’t belong in any chair unless he’s paralyzed.  Do you realize the public WRATH that Toby Keith would have to face? He’d be ostracized and there would be media outrage and it would be the top news on every media outlet for like a year.

Fortunately for Ludacris, he lives in a country that allows him to spew this garbage.  Unfortunately for everyone on The Mock Dock, I’m subjecting you to it.

Lyrics:
I’m back on it like I just signed my record deal
yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
never should have hated
you never should’ve doubted him
with a slot in the president’s iPod Obama shattered ‘em
Said I handled his biz and I’m one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I’m ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that b^$&%* is irrelevant
Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
if you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!
and all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man
you can’t stop what’s bout to happen, we bout to make history
the first black president is destined and it’s meant to be
the threats ain’t fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
so get off your ass, black people, it’s time to get out and vote!
paint the White House black and I’m sure that’s got ‘em terrified
McCain don’t belong in ANY chair unless he’s paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw em like candy wrap
cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents
get out and vote or the end will be near
the world is ready for change because Obama is here!
cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!

This type of thing makes me sick. Besides, I’m tired of celebrities spewing their politics. I’ve said it before, but the office of the presidency deserves respect, regardless of party or who is elected to office. As a flagrant conservative, I will still respect Mr. Obama if/when he’s elected, even though I will not be voting for him :)

  2. 2 SnarkyBritches

Well… please just remember that, while this is vile and stomach-churning drivel… Obama has nothing to do with it. He didn’t write it, doesn’t sing it… and probably didn’t even know it was coming.

And you’re right, Mock - if, say, Toby Keith would do something like that, there WOULD be an untimate freak-out… but mostly because Toby Keith is relevant. (See what I did there? Stole a line from the song, I did) Unlike ludicrous Ludacris (nice choice for a name, though - saves us the trouble of coming up with an epithet) Toby actually has people listening to him.

I AM offended by this song. Understandably, he’s practicing his right to free speech but I do have one small problem with that. Who would he be supporting if Obama did not win the nomination? I am sure he would not support any Asian/Indian/Caucasian/Hispanic candidate. Apparently, and quite obviously, he does not care about Obama’s platform. He only cares that Obama is black; that was enough to win his vote. Now who’s being racist? It’s a sad day when skin color could decide our next president despite the truly pressing issues in our country, such as the unstable economy, the war, or the poverty. Let’s elect someone based on their looks. Great idea, Ludacris. I’ll make sure to recommend your album to everyone I know.

Would you expect anything less from such a low-life syphilitic outcome of a mongolian/baboon butt f—.

  5. 5 Roxy Rococoa

Ok. Celebrity gossip from Indiana? Roxy was open-minded, even though Roxy LIVES in Hollywood. (Roxy has been to Indianapolis, and was nearly blinded by the incredible obesity of almost everyone Roxy saw! Good calves, but Roxy suspects gravity will soon render them invisible.)

But you are offended by this? A song?!?

    An opinion?? How UN-American.

Roxy is through with you, and deleting this bookmark.

    Too, too stupid.

    Roxy mocks you.

    (Buckeye Bob, please die soon.)

  6. 6 Roxy Rococoa

    Bye!

  7. 7 Mockarena

Roxy is so obviously going to come back to check what people wrote back to her overly dramatic goodbye post, so I thought I’d go first.

People who refer to themselves in the third person are idiots.

You know what’s hilarious, Roxy? That you are going off the deep end that I am offended by an opinion. Almost like YOU’RE OFFENDED BY my opinion. Do you see the irony? You’re saying it’s UN-American for me to have an opinion about Ludacris’ opinion. Sooo typical of someone in Hollywood.

    See you soon!!

Are you aware at all what the majority of news channels say about Obama and liberals? As if it is unheard of that anyone has spoken against liberals, and if they did the whole world would be up in arms? Look who has been running our country for the past 8 years, look at the hole he has dug us into, and you are worried about what Ludacris is saying about him? As if he is some innocent bystander being called a bad name? What he said is putting it lightly. What Bush and his administration has done to this country is frightening to say the least, and what Ludacris has to say about it really isn’t even close to the reality of how horrible they all are. Oh, and if you think Toby Keith doesn’t spew his red neck views openly, you are badly mistaken. Oh, and Amanda, ONLY caring because he is black? Just because in one song he says we are going to have the next president be black? You have no idea why he supports him, only that as a black man he is proud to have a black man become president. As he well should, black Americans have come from slavery to possibly being able to have a black man as president, and that is absolutely something to be happy about. You have no basis for thinking he doesn’t support him for other reasons. Its a song, he can’t tell you his whole political point of view in one song. You can all have your opinions, just odd to me that you would pick something as trivial as a song lyric when there are so many other horrific things happening in this country.

Roxy, please don’t delete the bookmark. If you do, one of themockdock.com virtual server souls will die. We wouldn’t want that, would we? Just think of the digital bytes you would be sacrificing. It is like emptying your recycle bin times 10!!!

Anyways, quit trying to be the cool rogue commenter from Hollywood. You live in Clearlake, CA. That is north of Sacramento, aka farmland. To be exact, that is 477 miles (over 7 hours driving time) away from Hollywood. You probably planned a trip to the midwest so you didn’t feel so fat.

    Keep on, keepin on.

    Gabone.

When my daughter was 3 she referred to herself in the third person and it was hilarious, but she was THREE!!!

    Roxy -

I hereby bestow upon you the coveted “Golden Flounce Award”. To paraphrase our founder, Scarlett O’Hara : ‘As God is my witness, I’ll never post to this blog again!’

Enjoy your time at Tara, Roxy. Buh bye.

  12. 12 Sunshyndrmr

well sunshyndrmr thinks this page is awesome, and sunshyndrmr doesn’t want people like Roxy around messing up sunshyndrmr’s fun anyways. ciao Roxy!

(I had to put it in 3rd person so she’d understand it)

  13. 13 buckeye bob

Wow, is that Roxy thing gone? I thought she would never leave. Seems like every time there is another earthquake out there it brings one of the nuts to the top. She’s been mad since she lost her job as a test pilot at the broom factory. But one final salute Roxy if your reading (and we know you are) (I’m raising my glass now)
    Here’s to you………..Kissing my a–

  14. 14 Mikey

Much of the music industry acts like Obama is the coming Messiah. I received a “free” subscription to Rolling Stone, and I was amazed to find that it is basically a large campaign rag for Obama.. Dopers like Luda obviously think that they will be sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom soon. Obama is the scariest U.S. politian in history. No one (including his supporters) have any idea what he will do if elected (other than stand limply, hands at his side during the National Anthem like he is embarrassed by it)

  15. 15 amanda

Sarah, I agree that Bush was not our best choice for president. Really, he wasn’t even a decent choice. I did not vote for him. I’ll crack a few jokes at W’s expense.
As far as the race issue, when Ludacris says
–so get off your ass, black people, it’s time to get out and vote!
paint the White House black and I’m sure that’s got ‘em terrified–
THIS is what makes me think he only cares about race. Has Ludacris ever backed a president in the past? If not, I’d say for him it’s about race. I have no issues with Obama (or Hillary for that matter) running for president. I am thankful our country is finally getting over some of the oppressing stereotypes that have been in place for years. I have made my choice based on substance, not on race, gender, religion, etc. So, just like Ludacris, I can expel my trivial opinions on the beloved MockDock.
PS. Ludacris really needs a haircut. :P

  16. 16 justforlaughs

Nope, no one leaves this site…E V E R! It’s just too addicting!
Buckeye Bob, I personally love your commentary!

  17. 17 mlm

    Toby Keith is relevant?

  18. 18 motty

I wouldn’t start considering Ludacris as irrelevant. Every friend I had in highschool and every black kid listens to him. And that’s kinda scary. I used to like some of his stuff, but there’s just no way I can ever listen to his music again. This song is just plain hateful!

And as ER said earlier, the office of President deserves respect, regardless of whether or not you like the policies the current president is putting in place. There is NO SUCH THING as a perfect president. And if Bush is so mentally handicapped, I would like to see Ludacris do his job, and do better job of it.

  19. 19 Mockarena

mlm- I don’t know. He was just the first person that came to mind when I was trying to think of who would be the polar opposite of Ludacris. :)

  20. 20 Sunshyndrmr

I personally enjoy Toby Keith, I’ve even seen him in Concert a few times. I can’t remember a political type song he’s done, but he has done song where he’s supporting our country and our troops, which I guess is considered political, but it was about the President and his like or dislike of the President or White House people. I’m not sure why someone that lives in America, and likes it, would find his songs offensive. And he surley doesn’t talk about “white” people, just Americans. But Luda is “singing” about race.

  21. 21 Bunny

Wasn’t I just commenting recently on how much I LOATHE gangsta rap? Well, this kind of crap is exactly why. Does anyone really think this is music? If composing “songs” that encourage hate, ignorance, and vulgarity is what it means to make music, then I guess Ludacris is pretty darn talented.

  22. 22 amanda

Well THIS is a big coincidence. Check out the following Toby Keith article:
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/max-blumenthal/toby-keiths-pro-lynching_b_115526.html
    Go figure!

  23. 23 Sunshyndrmr

I can admit when I was wrong, and I guess I was wrong, he is singing about race in that song. Thank you for pointing that out

  24. 24 Mockarena

Wow - so that Toby Keith song is totally offensive too. I need to find a better example, obviously!!

You know what I’m sick of? Race talk. I thought when we were to the point that folks like Colin Powell and Condi Rice and now Barack Obama were in significant positions of power, we could just END all of the talk about race. It’s clear that ANYONE, regardless of their race, can get ahead in this country if they just apply themselves. Those three are just 3 examples - but there are plenty of others. Lyrics like Toby’s and Ludacris’ only create a bigger divide. :(

  25. 25 mlm

I’m not a fan of either Ludacris or Toby Keith. However, living in Texas, I CAN say that when people proclaim that Texans are stupid,loud-mouthed rednecks, most of us normal people think, “Geeze, thanks Toby Keith, for portraying us in such a light!”

  26. 26 Olivia J. Snarkypants

Being that Olivia, J., and Snarkypants are not any of my real names, I can say publically that my commander in chief is not someone I’m that proud of. I will not be voting. I have to obey him and will likely end up in Iraq regardless of how I vote. Celebrities don’t really need to use their influence to sway voters.

  27. 27 Shannon

What’s the big deal? People always pop off about their candidate. There’s nothing here that’s offensive (it is especially mild for Ludacris.) Reminds me of old sorority songs, all which basically say, “We’re the best, all the other houses are fat, ugly sluts, etc.” I admire him for encouraging a under-represented (as far as voter turnout) group of Americans to get out there and vote.

  28. 28 buckeye bob

I’m sorry but I can’t see what is racist about Toby’s song. The only thing he is referring to is serving justice on outlaws in the old west by hanging which is the same way states carried out executions and how towns sometimes would handle criminals such as horse theives. He’s comparing those times to today and how soft on criminals we have become. Lynching outlaws had no race motive. I don’t get it.

  29. 29 Sarah

Sorry Mockarena, but just because a handful of black Americans have “made it” does not mean being black in America is easy, or just as easy as being white if they “apply” themselves. There are no doubt black people that create a way for themselves and become immensely successful. There is also no doubt that there still is institutional racism that we as white people could never expect to understand. I have many black friends that on a daily basis have to deal with things I would never imagine. Being followed in stores by employees, being pulled over for no reason, not being accepted at a job. I work in retail, and I have heard my managers making racist comments about applicants that have a great resume. Trust me, its out there. And in all reality, to expect the “race” issue to go away is a little ridiculous. Slavery and segregation really wasn’t all that long ago, and whether you want to believe it or not, the effects still live throughout the black race.

  30. 30 Sarah

Oh and here is an example. Right outside of my fairly diverse city is a small town. In the town there is about 2 black kids at the high school. Well a group of white kids killed a deer, spread the body parts on the black kids car, and wrote out the N-word in blood. When the kid found his car, he threatened to kill the kids, likely not even being serious. The black kid ended up getting arrested, and the white kids recieved NO punishment at all. On top of that, the white kids parents were suing the black kid. Just for the record, what they did is a HATE crim, and nothing was done to them at all.

  31. 31 SnarkyBritches

I agree, Bob. It didn’t matter what color a horse thief was in the Wild West. Ya dun it, ya got lynched fer it. Wild West justice… quick and cheap.

  32. 32 Sarah

Oh yeah, and you would also just be lynched for being black with Wild West Justice, if thats what you mean by “Ya dun it, ya got lynched fer it.” Please don’t act like that wasn’t the reality of the time.

  33. 33 SnarkyBritches

Please don’t read words into my statement that I didn’t put there. I meant what I typed, nothing more or less.

  34. 34 Sarah

Don’t put things that are not acknowleging the reality of the situation. You were NOT only lynched if you did something “wrong”. I didn’t have to read into it, it just wasn’t true.

  35. 35 SnarkyBritches

Ok fine. You’re apparently one of those “Always right” people whose solemn duty it is to educate us unwashed masses… who happen to hold a different opinion from you, therefore must be wrong. You win, you’re so much smarter than me, you’re perfect, I’m so dumb, I need to change my evil ways.

    Feel better now?

Read for comprehension, Sarah. Nowhere in my original post did I say ‘only’.

  36. 36 Mockarena

Everybody just take some deep breaths now. Let’s just all get along. :)
Sarah - I’m not so oblivious that I don’t recognize there is still racism - but I would submit that it goes both ways - and again, lyrics like these do nothing but make it worse. It’s just like black people now claiming that they are taking the “n” word back - and it’s ok for them to use it freely. The more double standards like that which are created, the deeper the divide becomes.

  37. 37 sbarros

Whew. Just got done reading all of these posts. First, let me say, everyone has a right to their opinion and yay free speech! Second, people who speak or type in 3rd person are complete idiots that don’t deserve our attention. I think Roxy is really Chris Crocker. Tone of voice, me me me, pay attention to me, mentality is the same. Third, the mock dock provides an endless source of entertainment and mocks everyone of every size, race, religion, or political faith equally. And that is what makes this country great. People coming from all sources sharing their opinions and mocking others. Woo-hoo! Now bring on some more pictures of stuff that makes me stick to my diet. ;)

  38. 38 sbarros

P.S. I am not clear on why Roxy hates Bob. Can someone point out what I missed? Bob has some of the best posts next to Holmsey.

  39. 39 jordan

Rappers interested in a presidential election, in a nation where less than 50% of its citizens are registered to vote or will decide who the next president is…think about it..this is good for everybody..and like it or not, the fact that O’bama motivates this part of our society with out trying to speaks powerfully to Bam’s impact..remember he is the guy urging black men to step up to their responsibities as fathers…a concept I think Toby keith would clearly embrace.

By-the-way Texan’s rock, I say that as a New Yorker!

  40. 40 ErinnR

I think if Obama looses, then he can personally blame this idiot!

  41. 41 mlm

Thanks, Jordan! (although, I’m really a Yankee at heart–Ohio–go Bucks!)

  42. 42 jordan

    I’ts all good
