Matthew McConaughoweveryouspellit Is Very Natural

First things first.  I have no idea what Matt’s political persuasion is, but I think this picture makes it INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS that he leans left in a big way, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, in totally not surprising news, it turns out that Matthew McNatural has kept the placenta from the birth of his baby boy, Levi, and intends to plant it in an orchard.  So as to help fertilize the land, you see.  It’s a practice he learned from aboriginal tribes in Australia.

No word yet on exactly what orchard will be the placenta host.

As grossed out as I am about this, I’m kind of curious about how exactly he’s currently storing the placenta.  I mean, is it like, in a tupperware in the fridge?

Typical celebrity hokem…..at least he didn’t have it bronzed or gold-plated.

Just because some other culture does something, doesn’t make it better or normal.

Maybe he’s got the placenta in a ziplock bag. That way he can just dig a hole, and then squish it all out of the bag. I wonder if animals will smell it and then dig it up. Then he’ll look like an idiot for on having it cremated like all the other body parts in hospitals. He’s weird.

I can’t even really concentrate on the placenta thing after you talk about the other thing he’s storing.

In some cultures the placenta is cooked and eaten - GAG!!! It makes burying it in an orchard seem so mild!

Sorry, but I’m still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor after that first paragraph.

From a strictly “green” perspective, burying it in the earth makes a lot more sense than turning it over to be incinerated. While his choice regarding what to do with the thing is definitely unusual in this culture, I don’t think it’s as weird as, say, having yourself injected with botulism so you won’t wrinkle or sweat. I’m a whole lot less creeped out by this than I am by most of the plastic surgery stuff that is considered ‘normal’ by celebrity standards.

Gross? You want gross? certain vegans wait for their friends to have a baby so they can eat the placenta!!! They say that the placenta is rich in nutrition AND since nothing has to die to obtain it, placenta is morally OK to eat. Burying a placenta in an orchard sounds down right normal now, don’t it?
