Yeah. That was before I saw how much was going on today. This has been a very exciting day in the world of gossip. Guess what’s happened to Helio Castro-Neves? He’s been indicted on 6 counts tax evasion and tax fraud charges and using offshore accounts to hide all sorts of zillions of dollars from the IRS. Apparently he owes the IRS over $5 million dollars for income he made between 1999 and 2004. If he’s convicted, he could do 5 years of prison time for EACH COUNT.
Coupla observations. If I made the kind of money Helio does, I would GLADLY pay the IRS, because there would be plenty left over for me. I have never understood this about rich people. Secondly, Helio, as adorable as he is, is as dumb as a box of rocks. I have a hard time believing he would even know HOW to stash money away in off-shore accounts. In fact, I have a hard time believing he even knows what a bank account is.
My bet is that he’s had really crooked advisors working for him. Because look at him. He’s precious and sweet and probably so so so gay. He cannot be guilty.

He won’t dance his way out of this one.
I’m with you, Mock. If I was making big bucks, I’d have no problem with paying the IRS. I just don’t get the mindset that says “OK, I make zillions of dollars without actually working very hard, I have no problem blowing thousands of dollars on a single outfit or a pair of shoes* or some silly toy, I’ll pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to people to manage my money for me – but I just don’t think I should have to pay my taxes.”
*I’m thinking specifically of those fugly, scary heel-less boots Posh was wearing in an earlier entry on this blog. Those suckers cost around $5,000 USD!!
