I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy, but as I understand it, many people do. And apparently there is some chatter about whether or not Katherine Heigl’s character will stay on the show. And this article has some quotes from The Heigl about that.
So here’s where the kleenex comes in. Katherine Heigl, when asked about whether or not she’d like to continue doing movies and TV (by working on movies during her summer break from Grey’s Anatomy) said this:
”I’m more than happy to make that compromise. As my agent likes to say, ‘High-class problems. ’I don’t know if I want to continue for five years working 12 months a year, but I can take at least another year or two.”
I don’t know about you all, but just THINKING about poor Katherine Heigl possibly having to work TWELVE WHOLE MONTHS a year makes me WEEP with sympathy for her. I mean, how can she be expected to work every single month out of every single year? For mere millions? What is she, some sort of slave?
I’m thinking of starting a some sort of charitable foundation – you know, something that will provide poor Katherine with enough funding that she only has to work, say, nine months of every year instead of the full twelve. The poor girl must be EXHAUSTED.

After reading her statement I stepped out on the ledge of my apartment building. I refuse to live in a world that would let thim women work like a dog 12 months out of the year. My wife finally called me in for supper.

I think if they put her in the middle of a big mob, say, of 99% of the world’s population… and she said such a thing (when so many make so little and work 2 to 3 REALLY back breaking jobs)… she wouldn’t come out alive
Are there not labor laws to prevent this kind of abuse? Working the entire year is just unthinkable. They must be paying her 50 to 60 thousand a year for that.
I hope she chokes on that cigarette.
i live on a block with 3 teachers, and they could totally relate to her statement. They really don’t understand why I take it personally when they complain about not getting paid enough and then I watch them do things like load their kiteboard onto their car every* morning as I head off to work in the summer months.
*that is on the days they are not sleeping in, going to the beach, doing yard work, etc…..
I don’t watch Grey’s either because it is stupid. All the characters sleep together, then deal with “drama” involving at least 2 of them getting upset at someone else for sleeping together, and then they might throw in a patient here and there. That is what I gathered from the one episode I forced myself to sit through..
As for Katherine..she said she didn’t want to be on Grey’s anymore so she could do more movies but they wouldn’t let her get out of her contract. That was when she “hit it big” with Knocked Up, in which she also basically told everyone about how she hated how that movie made women look… she is a real treat to work with.
I hope she has many short years of work in the future. We just want her to be happy.
I can’t comment. I get red in the face just thinking about it. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts… Idiots make me sick. You can’t fix stupid, and I’m not about to go haywire just because someone’s absolutely positively a living example of why you can’t fix it. There. I feel slightly better.
