According to this, Pariah Carey believes that the reason her horrific debut movie Glitter did so poorly at the box office is because it came out on 9/11. This is the first time in history that I can recall a celebrity blaming their own failure on a terrorist attack. But this is Pariah, so it shouldn’t really come as any big surprise.
She said, “That movie was released on September 11th, 2001 – could there be a worse day for that movie to come out? I don’t think so. I don’t even know that many people even saw the movie so I don’t think it’s the worst thing ever done. Glitter was a learning experience and I wouldn’t do it again if you paid me. But I didn’t have representation or anyone to tell me: ‘What you need is a great director’.”
So, slight correction. It bombed because of 9/11 and because of her director.

And here I was thinking it was because she couldn’t act her way out of a wet paper bag. Everyone– go rent Glitter! If you don’t the terrorists will have won!

I know I remember on 9-11 after hearing about the attacks, the first thing to come to mind was, “Well there go my plans of seeing Glitter tonight.
On a flight I was on this was the movie. Fortunately, I’ve been able to block most of it from my memory but it is now the movie I use for comparison.
If a movie is “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” bad I’ll watch it just for the fun of how bad it is. If it’s “Glitter” bad then it’s just painful to watch and I’ll skip it.
9/11 was a Tuesday, and she didn’t actually released it until 9/21 (imdb). It would have been perfect time to capitalize on people that needed a break from the 24-hour news binge.
I don’t know why I’m wasting good brain power on trying to further prove that she is an egomaniac, her film speaks for itself.
