Head = Pounding.

Ow.

I have one of those headaches right now that aren’t as painful as a migraine, but are painful enough that it hurts to blink. I haven’t been particularly posty today, because that Almost-Cold which has been trying to attach itself to me for about a week now seems to have really finally won the fight. And, as if to get in a extra punch, it has decided not only to cause me to cough and sniff, but also to have a pounding headache. Jerk.

You’ll be pleased to know that I am going to attempt to make a casserole for my family this evening. I sent Mr. Mock off to the grocery store to get me a few ingredients I’m missing, and you should have seen the look on his face when I asked him to go. He was like, “What do you need me to go to the grocery store for?” and I said, “I’ve been looking at a recipe on line and I want to make it.” And he just stared at me, blankly, as if I were a complete stranger. And then he leapt up from his chair and grabbed the shopping list from me, afraid that I might change my mind if he didn’t leave Right That Second.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

    Ouch hope you feel better Mock! One of those viral headaches that makes you feel like warmed over sh!t? Lots of green tea, warm cloth to sinuses, Advil and Afrin nasal spray sometimes works for me! And Green Onion and Sour Cream Ruffles. I swear!

    I love hot and sour soup when I’m feeling like you. It clears the sinuses and still tastes yummy.

    Can’t wait to find out how the cooking went. There are few things in this world I love more than cooking and baking, but I don’t think I have any casserole recipes. Hmmm…

    Migraines don’t have to be severe to be a migraine. Migraine is a disease, and some are silent, meaning they don’t go through the pain phase at all. We all have a pain scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst pain. I suffer from chronic migraines, 26+ days out of the month. It’s hell, frankly, and I just applied for disability because I have permanent migraine aura, nausea, and pain. You can still have a migraine and not be in that much pain. It’s all in the physiology of the disease and the individual that has it. Migraines aren’t headaches either…the headpain is just stage 3 in a 4-part process that takes place in the brain over days. Unfortunately most people like to perpetuate ridiculous myths about the disease, but it’s as real and organic as diabetes.

    Most “sinus headaches” are misdiagnosed as such, when they are really migraines.

    The fastest way to know if you have a migraine is to lean over and put your head between your legs. If your head pounds worse, it’s a migraine.

    This concludes your migraine lesson for the day. My blog is devoted to my struggles with migraine disease and the impact it has, plus educational opportunities and links to some great sites. Good luck with your head…I truly hope you don’t experience these often.
