We have a 4th grade boy with cerebral palsy at our church and he also uses a specialized computer to communicate, although he's not quite as "chatty" as Carly was. Of course he's only in the 4th grade so we'll give him a few years. Thanks for sharing Mock!!! He is the smartest child I have ever seen. He does the most amazing things for his age but he just can't talk. He has made so much progress in the last month though. He said his first sentence last week "Buy more ham" We were so excited! We made such a big deal, he says it all the time now for attention. Carly is such an inspiration. I often wish I could live inside my son's (he has Down Syndrome)body and see where the communication glitch is. He can sign some. He can talk some. But most of his talking is gibberish and incoherant to strangers. I know the feeling when your handicapped child makes a giant leap forward out of the blue. Marcel signed "eat" and it was just onward and upward from there. What a great story. Fantastic.
