Today’s weightloss commercial? Slim Ice! It’s goo you rub on your stomach that makes fat just fall off of you. We saw the extended version of this on tv this morning. These mexicans sure have some easy ways of gettin’ skinny!
By the way, I’ve been meaning to tell you guys that I took two books with me on this trip, one recommended by a girlfriend on facebook (Something Borrowed) and one recommended by one of you (Firefly Lane). Something Borrowed was super cute – totally beachy and light. I can’t remember now which one of you insisted that I should NOT get Firefly Lane (QC maybe?) because I would bawl, but that’s precisely what made me choose it. I LOVE books that make me bawl. LOVE THEM. And that one had me in tears like 72 different times. It was like Beaches on crack. AWESOME read. Thanks for the suggestion!
You know what there seem to be a lot of here? Other than the mangy dogs? Lesbian tourists. We have seen a crapload of lesbian tourists here. I wasn’t aware that Isla was a lesbian destination. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I’m just saying.
Today, we did absolutely nothing all day long, pretty much like we’ve been doing. We’ve become experts in the art of doing nothing, actually. If there was a contest or something, for who could do nothing the very best, we would win in a landslide.
But TOMORROW we are Doing Something. We are golfcarting the island tomorrow. There is apparently some sort of turtle exhibit somewhere here, which we’ll naturally be avoiding like the plague, but there is also a whale shark exhibit, which I totally want to see. And then there is a tiny smattering of ruins at the very south tip of the island, which should make for some good photo ops.
And then Friday, we’re headed home. ALREADY. This trip has been WOEFULLY ABBREVIATED. But you guys are probably sufficiently sick of hearing about it by now, and are ready to get back to the mockery to which you’ve grown accustomed. Fear not, mockdockers. Regular mockaliciousness will resume late Saturday, after we’ve loved on our boys and unpacked and settled in and stuff.
Meantime, someone needs to buy some slim ice and let us all know how it works.

Isn’t Isla Mujeres “women’s island?” Hmmm?
I absolutely LOVE whale sharks. I was supposed to take a trip to Georgia to swim with them this past summer, but then I ended up pregnant. My husband wasn’t really comfortable with me in a tank with some fish that could literally swallow me (not that they’d want to) while carrying his baby. Anyway, if you get anywhere near them, you MUST take plenty of pictures and post them immediately! (Please!)
That was me who told you about Firefly Lane making me cry. That’s the last thing I’d want to do on vacation. It was a good book, except for the heartwrenching end.
Something Borrowed is one of my favorite summer reading books. You should definatly read the sequel, Something Blue. The author has also written a book called Baby Proof and that’s pretty good — though not as good as the Borrowed and Blue. Don’t read her book Love the One Your With, terrible. Enjoy your vacay!
Um . . . yeah, Mock – Isle of Women. It’s a direct connect – la lesbianas.
“These mexicans sure have some easy ways of gettin’ skinny!”
That sound pretty racist…..
aPE – you’re a complete idiot if you actually got racism out of that. I was IN MEXICO when I wrote that, and it was a MEXICAN TV AD about losing weight.
Way to reach, and jump to totally ridiculous conclusions.
And way to dig up a post that’s over 6 months old.
