WRONG.

If you’re going to be a landbeast, have at it.  It’s your right (although pretty soon Michelle Obama might tell you otherwise).  But your kid?  Why do you have to do that to your kid?  Freaking TAKE THE ICE CREAM AWAY, for crying out loud.

GAWD.

This makes me angry! This child will never have a chance, will have serious health issues, and will be mocked by other children. Stupid parents….

Her Mom will be the first to tell you she has a medical condition.

Take away the ice cream fine but get her the hell out that children’s wheelchair that they are calling a stroller. Make her get some movement or she will atrophy and never get the dull use of her muscles…!

that child will grow up just like mama, on welfare because they can’t work. this is just too disgusting.
i’m with robyn, take that child out of that stroller!!
how in the world did they get her in there in the first place?
she’s going to have major joint problems by the time she’s 10, not to mention the breathing problems.
@ nancy, i agree with you, ‘stupid parents’.

My son refused to ride in a stroller by the time he was two years old, preferring to walk… a-hem… run everywhere we went… he is active and healthy… Kick this little Michelin Tire girl out of the stroller and make her burn off the calories she consumed from that ice-cream cone. Parents who abuse their children like this are despicable.

If that’s mom behind her in the blue, well…a walk would do them both some good.

    reply to el pato–

They buttered her up with more greasy food and ice cream– same way to get her out of the stroller!! :-)

…Or at least throw the ice cream and make her run for it.

That poor thing. I honestly feel really bad for that little girl, and I get really mad when I see young kids overeating because their parents let them, or even worse, ENCOURAGE them to overeat.

I usually feel bad for grown ups with weight problems too, even if they DON’T have a medical condition, because it’s true that we’re all responsible for what we do to ourselves, but as a former fatso myself (who has been totally skinny for over 7 years now… thank you very much), I know how difficult it can be to struggle with something like this. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hypersensitive about it and I don’t condemn the mocking, but I usually feel bad for fat people, anyway.

*Francisco playfully pretends to be playing the violins to avoid sounding so drama queen-ish*

Anyway, if I feel bad for fat people in general, you can imagine how bad I feel for kids who don’t know any better, and who will probably grow up to be morbidly obese, because their parents taught them that it’s okay to be fat. I really hope that someday, that little girl will grow up and say ‘Remember how fat I used to be when I was a kid?’ (while NOT being fat anymore)

Francisco – I am a recovering landbeast myself. I’m down 21 lbs. now (woo-hoo!), and my whole motivation is to make sure my kids know how to eat well and exercise. My oldest son has a heart problem, so it’s especially important to keep his weight in the normal range. It upsets me to see this kind of abuse, since it is completely within the parents’ power to control what kind of food a child eats. You don’t have to be a food Nazi, just have common sense – something that is seriously lacking in this day and age. I can just see this poor baby’s pediatrician pulling out his hair over this!

P.S. – it’s absolutely hilarious watching my kids exercise with me to my Jillian Michaels DVD!!

Well, that’s great Punky, I’m happy for you and the kids :) and you’re absolutely right, preventing your kids from becoming obese, is about having at least some common sense. I hope more parents would realize that.

Yeesh! Look at the size of the arms on the one right behind the kiddo in the stroller! (I speak as a thin person struggling to get out of her smallish-sized landbeast suit, but more often losing the battle. Ugh.)

This little girl may well end up with childhood diabetes because she’s too heavy, eating (possibly?) too many sweets, and (probably) isn’t getting enough, or any, exercise. Her little cheeks are so fat, while I’m pretty certain she’s looking at the ice cream cone in her hands, it makes her look like she’s asleep!

Oh, the poor wee one! It’s not her fault her mother isn’t taking proper care of her.

I work at a children’s hospital. It is not unusual to get in kids who are suffering from a host of problems that used to be reserved mostly for mmiddle aged fat men and women. Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea (not just from adenoids, but from weight)…. it is aweful. And half the time the pediatritions are afraid to say anything to the parents too strongly worded for fear the parents not bring their kids to the dr’s at all. we aren’t allowed to use the term fat at all, we have to use the term “well nourished”

I hate this girls parents right now. This is as much child abuse as starving a child is.
