Bunny’s not going to be happy that I’m giving any publicity to this, but Michael Vick has written a blog entry to apologize for being a horrific dog-killer. And here’s the thing. I agree with her that people who are cruel to animals in that way are like the lowest scum of the earth – at the same level as rapists and murderers and child predators. They suck. But when I read his blog entry, I couldn’t help but feel that he is experiencing true, real, genuine remorse.
Perhaps I’m naive and too trusting of people, and some brilliant spokesperson wrote this up for him. But that’s just not the sense I get when I read it. I think this is a dude who’s truly and deeply sorry. Does that excuse what he did? Of course not. But it goes a long way towards making him seem almost human to me again.
