Let me ask you this. If you had just been totally outed on an audio recording as being a deceitful criminal jerk, and you knew that pretty much all of your peers wanted you to resign and that pretty much the entire state who elected you hated your guts and wanted you to resign, would you go ahead and just appoint a new senator, even though you were advised by all sorts of respectable people that if you did, you’d look even more idiotic than you already do? Because I can’t see myself doing that. That’s just me.
So Blago has appointed Roland Burris, who, if he had any sense, would not accept an appointment made by someone as morally retarded as Blago. But accept it he did, and now he plans to just show up to the Senate floor on Tuesday, ready to work. And in the most deliciously juicy news ever, according to a couple of democratic aides to CNN, Burris is going to be turned away. He just flat won’t be allowed in. Democratic senators have said that they’ve got the power to refuse to accept anyone that Blago has appointed, and they absolutely intend to use that power. I LOVE THIS.
Anyway, according to one of these aides, if Burris tries to get into the senate chamber, the doorkeeper will stop him. And if he were to try to FORCE his way onto the floor, US Capitol police would stop him. Burris has told CNN that he is “certainly going to make contacts with the leadership to let them know that the governor of Illinois has made a legal appointment, and that I am currently the junior senator for the state of Illinois.“
Doesn’t that quote sound like it should have ended with “So na-na-na-na-boo-boo on you” or something to that effect?
