So while Ludacris was busy writing lyrics that barely resemble actual proper English, the guitarist from Queen, Brian May, was busy completing his PhD in astrophysics.
I am not making this up! His thesis has been published as a book called, “A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud” which reminds me of how I felt every time I read the title of one of my dad’s papers on yeast genetics; namely, like a complete moron. My parents, retired now, were both ridiculously brilliant scientists, and my dad wrote all sorts of publications which had titles with words in them like cytoplasmic and histidyl-tRNA and serine reversal and potentiation and nucleotide sequences. THOSE WERE JUST THE TITLES, so you can imagine the actual articles. There were words in them longer than this entire sentence.
Guess how much science talent and aptitude Bunny (my sibling, if you weren’t already aware of that) and I have? A signficant amount actually. And by significant I of course mean none whatsoever. Come to think of it, my dad could probably write a really interesting article about how in the world Bunny and I managed to avoid inheriting scientific and good-at-math genes when BOTH of our parents are chock full of them. We had no problem picking up the thin hair and high blood pressure genes, but science and math skills? No.
Anyway, congratulations to Brian May!
